This research provides a comprehensive overview of both innate and adaptive immune responses, detailing the cellular and humoral components involved in recognizing and eliminating threats. <br /> The study begins by tracing the historical development of immunology highlighting key discoveries such as antibodies, phagocytes and the roles of early pioneers like Pasteur, Koch, and Metchnikoff. It examines then the structure and function of immune cells including neutrophils, macrophages, dendritic cells, B and T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, as well as essential immune molecules like cytokines, antibodies and complement proteins.<br /> Innate immunity offers immediate, non-specific protection while adaptive immunity provides long-term, antigen-specific defense with immunological memory. The study further explores the role of lymphoid organs, mechanisms of phagocytosis, antigen presentation and the classification of hypersensitivity reactions.
